Australia vs India Champions Trophy 1st Semi-Final Match Highlights

India reached the final of the ICC Champions Trophy for the third time in a row with a strong performance against Australia.

They played well in both batting and bowling. Virat Kohli played a key role in the run chase, crossing 8000 runs in ODIs while chasing.

The chase started with an early setback when Shubman Gill got out in the fifth over. Rohit Sharma, who was dropped twice, played aggressively in the powerplay but was dismissed for 28.

At 43/2, Australia had a chance to take control. However, Kohli and Shreyas Iyer stabilized the innings with a 91-run partnership. They played carefully against Australia’s spinners, avoiding unnecessary risks.

Kohli reached his 74th ODI fifty but was dropped soon after. Iyer, who looked solid, was bowled by Adam Zampa for 45. Kohli then found support from Axar Patel, who hit a six early in his innings. Their 44-run stand kept India on track.

But Australia kept the match competitive with timely wickets. Axar was bowled by Nathan Ellis, and KL Rahul joined Kohli at the crease.

With ten overs left, India needed 65 runs with six wickets in hand. Rahul hit some key boundaries to reduce the pressure. However, Kohli got out while trying to hit a big shot, giving Australia hope.

But Hardik Pandya played a quick cameo, smashing three sixes. His 24-ball 28 helped India finish the chase with 11 balls to spare.

Earlier, India had bowled well to restrict Australia to 264 runs. They used four spinners on a fresh pitch, and Varun Chakravarthy took a wicket with his first ball.

Travis Head played a quick 39 but struggled initially. Steven Smith was the most settled batter for Australia, reaching his fifty in 66 balls.

Marnus Labuschagne supported Smith but was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja after a 56-run stand. Australia struggled to score boundaries for 50 balls during this phase.

Josh Inglis was dismissed cheaply, and the innings seemed to slow down. However, Alex Carey played aggressively, adding 54 runs with Smith at a fast rate.

Carey continued attacking, reaching his fifty in 48 balls. He played a key role in keeping Australia’s innings alive. But after Smith got out for 73, wickets started falling.

Glenn Maxwell was bowled by Axar Patel, and Carey was run out by Shreyas Iyer’s sharp throw. Australia was bowled out for 264 in the final over.

India’s strong batting and disciplined bowling helped them win by four wickets and reach another ICC Champions Trophy final.
