England vs India 4th Test Day 5 Post Match Analysis

Match Drawn: India Hold Their Nerve to Deny England Series Win in Manchester

India have done it! They have batted for nearly two full days in the second innings and lost just two wickets across five sessions.

Here is three players Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar who scored centuries. They were 1/2 at lunch on Day 4 and looked dead and buried.

But Gill, calm as you like, added 188 with KL Rahul who fell just short of a hundred on 90. Shubman Gill scored four centuries in this series.

The real game saving partnership came from the lower order. Washington Sundar who scored 101* runs, was promoted up the order due to Pant’s injury.

Jadeja who scored 107* runs, teamed up with Sundar and they added 203 unbeaten runs. They not only frustrated England but basically batted them out of the game.

Ben Stokes was trying everything with the ball even bowling a fiery spell that got Rahul and Gill with a short ball. But with no support from the rest of the bowlers and a flat Old Trafford pitch, England couldn’t get the breakthroughs they needed.

As tempers flared in the last hour Stokes offered a draw – which India declined – before England bowled half-heartedly. Jadeja and Sundar took full advantage and brought up their hundreds in the balcony.

India may not win the series but this fightback ensures a thrilling decider at The Oval.

IND VS ENG 4th Test Post Match Presentation Summary

The scenes at Old Trafford were a mixed bag. England had dominated for most of the Test but India’s incredible resistance denied them the win and both captains had plenty to think about.

Ben Stokes, who took the Player of the Match award for his all-round effort, said the draw was frustrating. Despite bowling through pain and pushing himself to the limit he said he’d trade the personal award for a win any day.

He praised his side’s fiery start especially the aggressive opening stand that gave them the edge early. But by the end of the day he admitted the pitch had flattened out and it was hard to break through India’s dogged batting.

He also said he wasn’t going to risk his main fast bowlers in the last few minutes with another Test just days away.

On the other side Shubman Gill was beaming with pride. He said the early pressure was there but credited his batters, especially Jadeja and Sundar, for not just surviving but thriving under immense pressure.

Their partnership he said was about grit and patience — and both players fully deserved their centuries. He also said the team had learned a lot from this Test and despite being 2-1 down they were going to The Oval with belief and purpose.

With tempers frayed, bodies sore and momentum shifting the stage is set for a cracking finale.
