New Zealand vs India Champions Trophy Final Match Highlights
India won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 after defeating New Zealand by four wickets in a thrilling final. This was India’s third time winning the title. The match was played in Dubai, where the pitch made batting tricky.
India had some tough moments but managed to secure the victory with strong teamwork. They remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and added another ICC trophy to their collection.
New Zealand batted first after losing the toss. They started well, scoring quickly in the powerplay. Rachin Ravindra played some excellent shots and helped his team reach 69 runs in the first 10 overs.
However, India’s spinners brought the game back in their favor. Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy took important wickets, slowing down New Zealand’s scoring rate. Daryl Mitchell fought hard, scoring 63 runs from 101 balls.
Michael Bracewell played aggressively towards the end, scoring 53 not out, which helped New Zealand reach a competitive total of 251 for 7 wickets.
India began their chase strongly with captain Rohit Sharma leading from the front. He played a brilliant knock of 76 runs, forming a 105-run opening partnership with Shubman Gill.
Rohit attacked the New Zealand pacers early in the innings, scoring quickly. However, once the spinners were introduced, the game changed. Mitchell Santner dismissed Gill, and Michael Bracewell trapped Virat Kohli LBW for just one run. The quick wickets put pressure back on India.
Rohit continued playing cautiously but was eventually stumped off Rachin Ravindra’s bowling. At 122/3, India needed another solid partnership. Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel built a steady stand, adding 62 crucial runs.
Iyer got lucky when Will Young failed to complete a catch near the boundary. However, Iyer got out soon after for 48, caught by Ravindra while trying to hit a big shot.
KL Rahul and Axar Patel had to ensure that India stayed on track. Rahul hit an early six to relieve some pressure, but Patel got out while trying to hit over long-off. With 48 runs needed from 48 balls, the match was still open.
Hardik Pandya and Rahul kept the scoreboard ticking with timely boundaries. Pandya got out with 11 runs still needed, but Jadeja and Rahul finished the chase with calm batting. India reached the target with one over to spare, winning by four wickets.
New Zealand fought hard, both with the bat and ball. Their spinners put up a strong fight, making sure India did not win easily. However, India’s experienced players handled the pressure well. Their spinners had earlier controlled New Zealand’s batting, and later, their batters ensured a successful chase.
This victory confirmed India’s dominance in world cricket, adding another ICC trophy to their collection. They showcased great teamwork, skill, and composure under pressure.
