Match Analysis

South Africa won by 7 wickets with 16 balls to spare and are into the Tri-Series final against New Zealand.

Rubin Hermann was the star with a 63 off 36, his first T20I fifty. His aggressive batting, four sixes and three fours, swung the game in SA’s favour.

Rassie van der Dussen was the perfect foil, unbeaten on 52 off 40 as the two added 106 for the third wicket.

Zimbabwe had recovered well after a shaky start. Brian Bennett led the charge with a 61 off 43, getting the hosts from 44/3 to 144/6.

His partnership with Ryan Burl (36* off 31) added much needed momentum but a good death bowling effort from Corbin Bosch (2/16) and Nandre Burger (1/20) kept the total in reach for the Proteas.

SA had their own hiccups early on, losing both openers cheaply. But poor lengths from the Zimbabwe spinners and smart strike rotation allowed Hermann and van der Dussen to take control. Once Hermann went, Dewald Brevis finished off with a couple of nice shots.

With this win SA have eliminated Zimbabwe from the series and will now look ahead to the final against New Zealand.

SA will take confidence from a good all-round performance, bowling well and batting well when it mattered most.
